About Shifa

Shifa Trust is a faith based community organisation that provides for the Muslims and the wider community a range of community and educational services that aim to empower individuals and groups in Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Services are identified and designed to meet community needs and are delivered with a range of partners to share expertise and build community cohesion.

Shifa Trust strongly believes in reaching out and working with all members to bring about a vibrant and forward-looking community.

The summary of the aims are as follows:

  1. To provide young people educational and youth work services that meet their moral, educational and social needs.
  2. To provide adults educational and community services that raise awareness of the Muslim tradition, encourage and support academic and work based achievement and support vulnerable groups.
  3. To build community cohesion with a variety of individuals and partners organisations.
  4. To develop community leaders and workers that contribute positively to society.

Shifa engages in practical projects to benefit members of the communities it serves. A core element of our project work is for and with hard to reach young people and communities in some of the most deprived areas within MKOB. Through these projects we have developed the capacity of disadvantaged and marginalized groups by working towards tackling problems such as low achievement, disengagement from universal services, self-esteem, diversity and anti-social behaviour through the medium of educational, social and recreational activities.
