The Diversity Project

The Diversity Project delivered in Banbury School Sixth Form Centre funded by Cherwell District Council.

The young people opt for the diversity project as part of their enrichment programme. The attended weekly sessions and organise projects to assist themselves and others to have a positive view and practise diversity and community cohesion.

The young people also attend a number of trips and events; this year they will be visiting to London to see different places of worship, Liverpool to visit the university and the slave museum and will be attending the Oxford Said Business School.

Outcomes

Those that participate in the diversity and leadership course will achieve the following outcomes:

  1. Gain a comprehensive understanding of diversity that relates to:

    their own self-awareness
    individuals and groups
    society and culture

  2. Through organising activities that will promote a better understanding of diversity they will:

    value and gain experience of assisting others
    have made a positive difference to their school
    develop team working and leadership qualities

  3. Complete one or more of the nationally recognised youth award (e.g. bronze, silver, gold and platinum).
